(I’m unsure re "dead keys" on this layout.)
I used the AnOther layout, from 1998 to 2003, on both Linux (using Xmodmap) and WinNT (I’m a little unsure about which product I used, but I think it was the Keyboard Layout Manager).
2003-2008 I experimented with sedvorak, and variants of sedvorak; one was called sedvodia, and used the fact that you could use one character as a dead key, combine it with a second character, and get a third character (e.g. I typed / followed by a to create å).
I used MSKLC (Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator) for that purpose.
At the moment, I’m using Svdvorak (in Ubuntu).
I think I’d prefer sedvorak (used to have it, when on WinXP), but I don’t have the energy to map it at the moment.
